:: super cute easter treats ::

Multi-tasking is taking on all sorts of new forms as I now join the ranks of blogging mothers. We've got baby-on-boob happening on one arm, while photographing & photoshopping become a one-handed skill with the other arm.

I was hoping to have this post out a couple of days before Easter, but what can you do when birthing calls? Haha. Anyway, these treats are DONE before you can change a nappy, so it'll be easy to get some done and ready for even your most impromptu Easter teaparty.

Mini Bird Nests
Makes: 22 Nests

1 Packet Changs Crispy Noodles
1 Packet Dark Chocolate Melts
2 Tbs Peanut Butter
1 Packet of mini eggs (got these from Aldi)

1. Start by melting the melts in the microwave with the peanut butter. Set the microwave to 50% power, for 5 minutes, but take out every minute to stir.

2. Add the noodles and mix well to coat.

3. Plop little piles on a tray lined with baking paper. I also tried putting some in some mini silicone cupcake papers.

4. Arrange 3 mini-eggs in the centre of each one, giving them a little wiggle into the wet chocolate.

5. Refrigerate for 1 hour... you're DONE!

:: hannah's how-to [on avoiding those Easter kilograms] ::

Easter.
...chocolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate...

I tremble with the thrill and the dread, of overindulging. To me, there is nothing like shove, shove, shovelling a dark chocolate egg into your mouth, feeling it all crack into pieces and then melt into one huge deadly mouthful. And go again.

It's not like I ever even buy chockie at Easter time; the air is just full of it! People leave eggs everywhere; in the staff kitchen, on your seat, under your computer monitor... Even when I have the perfectly legitimate excuse of "Ohh thanks, but I've already eaten 8 today..." it ends up in your stomach. Hello zits.

But there are ways to survive this season of unresistable temptation. I'd like to share some of my ideas that help me say NO, when I'm really have no intention of saying anything like that.

1} EAT A CHOCKIE EGG
Or a bunny. I mean it. You need to have one or.. you'll end up having one anyway.
There is nothing wrong with chocolate, in any shape, as long as it's in moderation.

2} Have something sweet but healthy on hand
...to mung on for as long as it takes to get rid of your hankering for Easter goodies.
For example:

3} Have a hot drink; coffee, hot chocolate (without sugar), or my choice: green tea.

I find that filling my belly up with a warm beverage makes me less likely to want chocolate,
or any food for that matter. For me, it's something about having my stomach full of liquid and then eating food afterwards feels wrong.. like the food can't digest because the digestive juices are all dissolved in the drink (which I've heard is true), and I feel bloated by it.
Could be just me!! But I still think that filling up on a hot drink helps curve the sweet tooth. Sometimes I need 2 green teas to stop me... nothing wrong with that.

4} Ask your hubby to hide the home stash.
Yes, I've had to resort to this in the past. If you feel like you're going to keep popping back to the pantry, get it removed!

Hmmmm, now I'm starting to feel like perhaps I'm just a self-confessed addict and maybe all these tips are irrelevant to you all, I don't know! But I do know that I'm going to make a giant batch of healthy, nutty treat balls or something to cart around with me so I don't get on the sugar too hard!

Have a great Easter break everyone!!

Drive really safe if you're going camping or something fun. I'm pretty sure I'll just be making a start on packing house. Might squeeze a day trip in there somewhere. :)

Love me

:: hello. I bought shoes [and other nonsense] ::

It's a quiet moment at work.

I'm staring out the window and munching red seedless grapes.
I love watching people walk past. I know it's so cliche, but they are really that interesting to study candidly. I have a fascination with jaw lines by the way. No two are the same. Such a suble thing (sometimes) that can completely alter a person's look. They give impressions, on attitude.. style.. character.. Maybe not always the right impression, but they help complete a picture.

But back to watching people. Do you ever see the same people walk past your work each day? Past your house? Do you make up stories about them all in your head, or am I just making myself look like someone whose imagination needs cutting down to size? Do you see people who look like mad scientists, with pointy beards, long forest-green trenchcoats and hair that has been combed & gelled to go "whoosh" back from his head? I'm sure I've seen him more than once, but I always blink twice because he looks so fantastical.

Also, in other news, tonight Jason got access to our new place to measure up the bedrooms/living room so that we can get some new carpet happening. It would just be so, so ideal to have that in before we move in. So here's hoping. I'm thinking dark grey & fluffy?

The countdown to Easter is really on now, one more day laaaaaaaaaadies! And dudes. I get to have a girly date with my sweet friend A. on Thursday night. We're going to see Titanic in 3D. I'm definitely bringing a box of tissues. I figure that Jack dying on a mammoth screen is going to produce mammoth tears. How much better to share that with a friend who is equally good at blubbering.

also: hello, I bought shoes.
