:: little trip to Castlemaine ::

As the cold weather settles in (for good, it always seems), bright sunshiney days (did you just sing that in your head like I did?) are much harder to come by. Not to mention a non-windy one as well. So last Saturday we snapped up the chance of a cloudless sky and 14C (I know, really warm right...) to drive to Castlemaine. It's just one of those towns that you drive through when going somewhere else, and never have the time to stop.

Jase and I just love going to 'new towns'. It usually gives us the feeling that we're "on holidays" and "far away" when we're really not.

I didn't get as many photos as I'd like, as I held Willem the whole time (prams are just annoying, particularly when hubby loves trolling cramped second-hand book shops). Willem was really good though, didn't need a nappy change the whole time (thank you) and received lots of smiles and "look at the little baby!" from everyone we passed.

{interesting old church we parked nearby}

{enjoying steamed dumplings & wontons for the first time at 'taste of the orient'. yummo}

{pretty old places}

{one of them cramped bookshops. get a load of it!}

I highly recommend one of these 'cheap days out' when you just feel stuck, claustrophobic or need a holiday. It might not quite be a week on the beach, but it can be remarkably refreshing. x

  4. I replied to this I thought but it must have disappeared.
    Mini getaways are SO good for clearing the head and getting some quality time as a family. So glad you could do it!
    Such a fan of that pic too ;-)
