:: punishing treats. mouth sized ::

I get to a point where I'm tired of pinning. Pin after pin of pleasure, painful pretties and purely perfect pieces (of, everything). Sometimes you just need to actually DO, GO, MAKE, BAKE, BUY or STEAL some of these taunting inspirations.

So this weekend, armed with 4 boxes of Oreos, I actually ticked a Pinterest box. This one:

I know what you're saying... "HANNAH! How COULD you?"
Well, I could, and I did. And they're a winner! For feeding your friend's hips with ;).

Best part?

3 ingredients. So stop drooling and make 'em.

Oreo Truffles

4x 150g packets of Oreos
1x 250g block of Philly cream cheese
enough chocolate for dipping

Method

1} Empty 3 1/2 packets of Oreos into the food processor and wizz! Till you have very fine crumbs.
2} Tip the crumbs into a bowl and plop your softened block of cream cheese (I do mine in the microwave on 50% for a minute or so) into it. Rub it all around in there with a wooden spoon until it's all well combined.
3} Roll the mixture into balls, however big you like. I did mine about 1.5 inches across. Put them in the fridge just to harden a bit for 30mins.
4} While they're chilling, empty a chocolate block (dark is nicest) into a nice deep ceramic bowl and sit it swimming in a saucepan of simmering water. You might need more than one block... I couldn't gauge whether I had enough so I kept adding to it but ended up with heaps leftover... whoops.
5} Remove the chilled balls, use two forks to swish them around in the melted chocolate and let the excess drip off. Place on greaseproof paper.
6} Lastly, get that last half packet of Oreos that you have left. Crumble a couple into a bowl with your hands, and sprinkle some crumbs onto the top of your lovely creations. Chill.

    1. It's too simple! Great for when you want to impress guests for coffee & cake after dinner but don't have more than a few minutes! (obviously prepared the day before) :)

  4. Oreo's and Philly cream cheese seem to the the combination for heaven in ones mouth it would seem - judging from this recipe and the incredible oreo cheese cake that I brought all the way from America (I'll have to post it one of these days).

They look divine, Hannah. So tempted to throw away my resolve to 'behave' over the Easter holiday and whip out the apron and the Oreo's instead...I do know the gang I'll be spending the weekend with will commence a love/hate relationship with me if I proceed. Ha.

    1. Act on your temptation (this time)... you'll be glad you did.

Take note though; don't indulge on too much mixture as you go.. I made myself quite ill! ;)
