::things that make humpday not so lumpy::

How's everyone's week turning out? Racing along faster than expected I hope!

My mittwock has been simply delightful; spilling with good news!

1} My sweet work collegue asked me to be her bridesmaid in October.

If I wasn't already peppering her with ideas every day at work, I sure will be now!

(us at a concert last year)

2} Delightfully Teal nominated me for a "Very Inspiring Blogger Award".

Thanks Brittany! x

3} A dear, dear friend is 8 weeks pregnant with her first bubba!!

So stoked for her and her hubby. It's still a secret for a few more weeks though, so I can't let on 'who' just yet ;).

(the above photo was found here)

What's been the highlight of your week so far? No matter how small?

:: things that make humpday not so lumpy ::

1} Garage sale score!

All the scrapbooking stuff you'll ever need to drive you nuts for $20.

2} Freshly mown lawns and blooming roses.

 3} Trying new foods.

Warm falafel in pita with homemade tzatiki.

And a few pictures from a couple of weeks ago.

Trying a new hairstyle on my sister:

Snaps from a cute little Victorian town called Maldon. Most of the buildings were still in their original condition (on the outside) and dating back to 1810! Plenty of quaint shops, chocolate cafes & icecream parlours! Lovely day out.

Hope you've had a wonderful Boxing Day and enjoy the rest of the week!

:: things that make humpday not so lumpy ::

1. Bub's first present!

Tiny lil socks, given by a friend from work (she has no idea of the gender btw,
she said these were the most gender-neutral they had).
Cute huh?

2. Watermelon Strawberry Slushie

Lovely refresher for a hot day!
4 cups watermelon cubed, punnet of strawberries, cup of ice,
squeeze of lime and a couple of mint leaves = blend!

2. Our little shed

It's finally up, and leaves me with my laundry FREE again, of tools, rakes and bicycles!

Hope everyone's week is hummin' along!

:: a boy and a girl ::

On this humpday, I am utterly delighted to introduce to you one of the most handsome couples of my aquaintance, who are not only lovely just by being a pair, but beyond lovely when they're paired in voice.

Jason is the lead singer of the alternative rock band "My Escapade" but since meeting his girlfriend Sarah, he and her now also make up the brand new acoustic folk duo "A Boy & a Girl".

Have a listen to this little sample. I don't know about you, but I'd say it's the most special thing I've heard all day.

You better toddle over and like their Facebook page, because when the new music arrives, you won't want to be the last to know. I'm predicting that these two are going to get a lot of love from their newly founded career.

:: dinner on this humpday ::

I'm sorry, I'm temporarily out of 'threes' for my humpday posts... not sure why?

Tonight I figured I would post a picture of tonight's home menu, because it really was fabulous, and only took 1/2 an hour from start to finish (all from scratch too!).

Wednesday's Menu

~ Fried Basa Fillets in Seasoned Flour ~
~ Baked Parmesan Asparagus ~
~ Garlic & Butter Mushrooms ~

If you haven't heard of Basa Fillets, or tried them, they are amazing. A very delicate fish, not 'fishy' at all. Even my sister who hates fish will eat Basa. It's also a very cheap fish, and when it gets to about $9 per kg at Coles, I will buy a few kgs and pop it in the freezer. They make such quick meals.

~ Asparagus ~

So the first thing I did when I got home from work, was wash the 3 bunches of asparagus (YUM, such a treat, they are so expensive usually, but they were .99c a bunch!) and lay them side by side on a baking tray. Drizzle a little olive oil, grind some rock salt & peppercorns over them, and sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on last.

~ Mushrooms ~

Dead easy. Wash them, remove and chuck (blush) the stems and lay on a baking tray with the middle's showing. Pop a pinch of crushed/chopped garlic in the center of each one, and place a tiny knob of butter on the top of that.

~ Seasoned Basa ~

My mum taught me this seasoning. It is the best and I use it every time. There isn't really any set amounts or ingredients (that's the beauty of it) but it goes something like this:
1 cup plain flour
1 Tablespoon Paprika
1 Tablespoon Turmeric
1 Tablespoon Lemon Pepper (that salt mix thing)
1/2 teas cumin (optional)
That's all!
Slice your fillets diagonally (makes 'em go further) and coat liberally in the seasoning mix.

Now it's time to get it all cooking:

- Put some olive oil in a non-stick frying pan on to heat.
- Place the trays of asparagus and mushrooms in the oven, set to 180 degrees for 15mins.
- When the oil is hot, add your fish and flip when one size gets crispy. They should take 15mins in total. So when your veggies are done, so is your fish. Brilliant.

Serve on a warmed plate (I just do mine in the mic) because these things lose heat fast.
So. Good.
