:: Mr Willem at 7 months ::

WILLEM
Age:7 months
Favourite food: Pumpkin
New tricks: Turning his toy around to find his favourite corner to suck.
Mobility: Still just sitting. Sometimes uses his arms to twist around in a circle while on his belly.
Sleeping: Waking 2-3 times a night. Mostly during his eczema flare ups which are still a regular occurrence. Wonderful day naps though (3 hours morn - 2 hours arvo).

We've had a very trying month, and have added gluten (or perhaps just wheat, oats seem ok) to Willem's allergy list. And peanuts probably. While we were in Tassie, I stayed off the dairy & eggs religiously, yet he was constantly flared up. It finally clicked that I was eating bread/wraps while with the family, when at home I'm pretty much gluten free just as a habit. Once home again, I came off the gluten and his skin returned to normal.

It's been quite the challenge for my diet, but I'm getting used to it. I can still eat my belly full of veggies, meat, legumes, most nuts and a million-and-one homemade sweet treats. But even if the veggies have butter on them (when eating out, for instance), Willem's skin will definitely flare up! Resturants have been pretty good at catering for me though, I must admit. There is always something I can eat. And at home, it's been pretty easy (especially with the "No Egg" powder you can get from the supermarket). Tonight I made chicken schnitzel dipped in GF flour, "No Egg" and then seasoned rice crumbs. It was so delicious, and worked just like your regular crumb.

Anyway, this is supposed to be about Willem! He's a happy little vegemite, except when mummy has accidentally eaten something she shouldn't. He's not looking like crawling any time soon, but his toy interaction is a lot more mature, and he likes playing 'games' with us, like "hit-the-ball-across-the-carpet". Can't wait to take him outside and acquaint him with leaves and grass etc. If this weather would ever stay sunny and warm for 2 days straight!!

Love this little man.
